The Black Reproductive Unfree Labor and Insurgent Motherhood

How Black women’s reproduction became integral to white supremacy, capitalism, and heteropatriarchy—and remains key to their dismantling. Available, May 2021

The minute the page proofs landed in my email, I was stopped in my tracks. I turned off the radio, closed all the other windows I was working in, closed my office door, turned off my phone, and started reading. I couldn’t put it down.

Hold up. Wait! Did she say that MY reproduction is necessary to fuel the systems that work to oppress me? She DID. The brilliant Sara Clarke Kaplan is my guest in this segment and WARNING: she is spitting 🔥!

Sara Clarke Kaplan is associate professor of ethnic studies and critical gender studies at the University of California, San Diego, and cofounder of UCSD’s Black Studies Project.

I hope you dig it!!!!
